Dining

Considering Oakland’s incredible mix of ethnic backgrounds, it should be of no surprise the area’s restaurants offer just about every cuisine imaginable. From African and French to Burmese and Vietnamese, the restaurant scene in Oakland is as eclectic as the city itself.

Some of the eateries known for planting roots in Oakland include Café Colucci, an Ethiopian theme restaurant in northern Oakland; Courthouse Grill, an Old Oakland café that includes American, Mexican, Italian and French fare on its menu; Phnom Penh House, noted for its Cambodian and American cuisine, this restaurant is located on Eighth Street; and the Jade Villa, one of the city’s most noted Cantonese restaurants can be found on Broadway.
